Voice actor Daisuke Hirakawa (50) announced on his X/Twitter account today that he is currently hospitalized. He is receiving treatment for sudden sensorineural hearing loss, commonly known as sudden deafness, in one ear.
Daisuke Hirakawa voices Noriaki Kakyoin and Rubber Soul (disguised as Kakyoin) in the third part of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Stardust Crusaders. His other notable roles include Makoto Ito in School Days, Enmu in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Rei Ryugazaki in Free!, Laito Sakamaki in Diabolik Lovers, and Rufus Albarea in The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel. Additionally, he dubs over the voice of Orlando Bloom and Tom Hiddleston.
Sudden deafness is an unexplained, rapid loss of hearing, either all at once or over a few days. It happens because of something wrong with the sensory organs of the inner ear, and typically only affects one ear. It can happen to people at any age, but most commonly affects those in their late 40s and early 50s.

Message from Daisuke Hirakawa
To everyone,
It’s Daisuke Hirakawa. Thank you very much for always supporting me. First of all, I sincerely apologize for causing concern and inconvenience to all the fans and those involved with my work.
A few days ago, I suddenly couldn’t hear from one ear. Upon visiting the hospital, I was diagnosed with sudden deafness, which led me to be hospitalized to receive proper treatment. I’m deeply sorry for causing trouble and worry to many people. I thought about continuing with my work somehow, but to face my beloved and important job as an actor without any future worries, I decided to take a short break and chose hospital treatment. For now, I want to focus on receiving proper treatment according to the instructions of the doctors and the staff.
I feel truly sorry for those who were looking forward to my scheduled appearances in events and to the staff who adjusted schedules, prepared scripts, and studios for me.
I will continue my treatment to get better as soon as possible. I would be grateful if you could give me a little time. I will be back soon!! I’m sorry for being so selfish, but I kindly ask for your understanding.

It’s not a long-term treatment or a prolonged hospital stay, so please don’t worry too much. When you see headlines on news sites, it can be surprising, right? Actually, I was the one who got surprised (^__^;)
