JoJo’s Bizarre Encyclopedia: 2024 Year in Review

The 2024 Year in Review for JoJo’s Bizarre Encyclopedia is here, showcasing the wiki and news site’s most popular pages throughout the world.

Welcome to the 3rd Year in Review for JoJo’s Bizarre Encyclopedia, where we will look back on the insights and analytics for the wiki and JoJo-News in 2024.

Previous annual reviews: 2022, 2023

Overview

In 2024, the wiki achieved 39,489,988 pageviews. In comparison, the site received 36,596,976 pageviews in 2023, 31,085,255 pageviews in 2022, and 27,896,940 pageviews in 2021. The difference is smaller compared to the previous years, but there was still an increase of 2.8 million views. To compare all the results, the pageviews for the wiki increased by 11.43% from 2021 to 2022, 17.73% from 2022 to 2023, and 7.91% from 2023 to 2024.

This news site launched on September 22, 2021 and its articles received 188,653 views that year. In 2022, we achieved 1,574,250 views and 319 comments. Unfortunately, it did not achieve higher in 2023, receiving 1,157,395 views and 316 comments. In 2024, it was even lower, receiving 980,877 views and 261 comments. Thus, this news site decreased in pageviews by 26.48% from 2022 to 2023 and by 15.25% from 2023 to 2024. This is understandable because I only wrote 78 articles in 2024, whereas in 2023 there were 88 articles, with a few of them being the reveal of The JOJOLands and Jodio Joestar. Although the views decreased last year, I still think it’s a lot and I’m grateful to all the viewers that read and comment on my articles.

We had a few spikes of traffic this year on certain days (EST timezone):

This list excludes the main page and pages that are hubs or categories such as the list of Stands and characters. Otherwise, the Stand list, character list, and main page would be the top 3 pages every year. Moreover, pageviews for characters that have sub-tabs (such as their gallery, history, and game pages) have been merged together.

A lot of the video game pages received huge boosts in pageviews, possibly due to the individual subpages for each character. Even though All-Star Battle R had no DLC in 2024, its page went up 35 ranks and is #8 overall (If you’re reading this Bandai Namco/SABR, this means the people want a Season 3).

Although most of them weren’t popular enough to be in the table above, 2024 was a big year for La Squadra Esecuzioni in Japan. Here is how their pageview ranks changed:

The Phantom Blood musical was a big release in 2024, but its page is #313 overall with 22,244 views.

Demographics

Top 20 Countries By Pageviews and Active Viewers in 2024

Top 20 countries sorted by views (left) and active users (right) in 2024

An “active user” refers to any viewer on the site (including guests, not just registered users). As always, the majority of our wiki users are in the United States of America, having about 2 million more users than the other countries in the top 5.

The #1 state is still California with 1,886,133 views and 279,708 users. The other regions in the top 5 are England, Texas, Florida, and New York.

United Kingdom beat Russia in views, replacing it in the top 3. Indonesia rose from 8th to 6th, while Italy dropped from 6th to 11th. Poland and Philippines also received more views, being 8th and 9th respectively (they used to be 10th and 12th).

The pageviews in Hawaii, which is the setting in The JOJOLands, slightly increased in 2024. There were 63,167 views from there compared to 2023 having 56,033.

This year, I decided to show the top 10 instead of the top 5 for each location categorized by Google Analytics, hoping that there would be more variety. I also increased the number of countries to the top 70 by pageviews. However, Wonder of U, Dio Brando, and The JOJOLands dominated most of the top 3 in every location. Surprisingly, China was the only one out of all 70 to not include Wonder of U in the top 10.

Analysis

  • The biggest surprise for me this year was China’s top ten. For some reason, their most visited page, even higher than the List of Stands and character category pages, was the Old Man Stand User. He was the antagonist of one chapter of the Stardust Crusaders drama CD. My guess is that users were searching for Satoru Akefu (Wonder of U) by just describing his appearance, and that led to this page.
  • JesusJesus ChristJesus ChristJesus Christ, more commonly referred to as simply The Saint, is a secondary character featured in the seventh part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, Steel Ball Run. I’m guessing some TikTok meme went viral or a post on Twitter brought attention to his page.
  • Wonder of UWonder of UWonder of UWonder of U is the Stand of Toru, featured in the eighth part of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series, JoJolion, and introduced in the "The Wonder of You" story arc. The reason for this is also likely to be due to a meme and the Stand being added as a playable character in All-Star Battle R in December 2023.

I have no idea as to why, but if you know, then feel free to comment!
  • Although I didn’t include it in the images above since it didn’t make the top 70, I checked Guatemala’s top ten for fun, and as I expected, El Aleph‘s Guatemala Arc was the most viewed page there.

Age and Gender

The age and gender of the wiki’s viewers are determined by Google Analytics, so they may not be completely accurate. It’s also just a sample size of around 8.7 million out of 39 million pageviews. Nonetheless, I’m including them for those interested.

Most Edited Pages in 2024

In 2024, there were 459 editors who made at least one edit on the website. The total edits in the year were 106,049.

JoJodle

Even though our JoJodle game shut down on March 9, 2024, the archived page consistently gets views. It was still the most viewed page on this website in 2024, having 72,898 views, over 16k views higher than the top viewed article.

I do want to make some other kind of game to replace it but I don’t know when I’ll have time to do something like that, so no promises.

Articles Deserving More Attention

Social Media

In 2024, our @jojo_wiki Twitter/X account gained around 9,200 followers, jumping from around 77,800 to over 87,000. That’s about an 11.83% rate of increase, which is lower than last year’s (31.86%), but still a lot of new followers. Maybe by next year we’ll reach 100k!

The Twitter account for logging our news articles, @jojowikinews, gained around 1,900 followers, going from around 10,800 to over 12,700 in total. This account grew by approximately 17.59%, which is also a lot lower than 2023’s (68.75%).

We also created a Bluesky account, which got up to over 1,900 followers.

Conclusion

That concludes JJBE’s Year in Review for 2024! As always, I’m grateful to all our editors, users, followers, and donors for supporting the sites. I’m expecting 2025 and 2026’s reviews to have big changes in ranks with more of the Steel Ball Run characters and Stands once the anime gets announced and starts airing. Let’s look forward to JOJODAY in April!
