Weekly Shonen Jump 50th Anniversary Game “Jumputi Heroes” Shuts Down on March 27, 2024

Wonder Planet and LINE’s Weekly Shonen Jump 50th anniversary mobile game “Jumputi Heroes” ends service in March 2024.

The developer Wonder Planet and distributor LINE announced today that their mobile game Jumputi Heroes is officially terminating service on March 27, 2024 at 15:00 JST. The game began on March 28, 2018 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

The game included 1385 characters from 120 different series and was playable on Android and iOS. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure was one of the series included in the game, with characters from Part 1 to Part 6. It is notably the first game to feature DIO’s sons from Stone Ocean as playable characters. Over the years, the game amassed over 23 million downloads.

Just a month before this announcement, the game featured Yoh Asakura from Shaman King in November 2023. Shaman King was originally published in Weekly Shonen Jump, but Kodansha acquired the rights to the series from Shueisha in 2017. Yoh hadn’t been included in Weekly Shonen Jump‘s crossover games since Jump Ultimate Stars on Nintendo DS in 2006. Hiroyuki Takei, the manga artist, also drew artwork to commemorate Yoh’s return to Jump-related projects.

Weekly Shonen Jump currently has no other crossover games aside from the MOBA “Jump Assemble”, planning to release in 2024. However, as of yet, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is not part of the series lineup, which only includes One Piece, Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Jujutsu Kaisen, Undead Unluck, and Mashle: Magic and Muscles.
