About Cool Shock B.T.

Weekly Shonen Jump first published a pilot one-shot of Hirohiko Araki’s Cool Shock B.T. on October 23, 1982. A year later, they serialized it on October 3, 1983, notable for being Araki’s first weekly serialization. It ended on December 5, 1983 with 10 chapters. Shueisha compiled the chapters for a volume release on October 9, 1984, which combined some chapters together for a chapter count of 6.

The manga consists of several short stories featuring the titular character, B.T., and his borderline-criminal escapades and misadventures with his often unwilling friend, Koichi Mugikari.

On October 19, 2021, a spin-off sequel one-shot titled Cool Shock Old B.T. was released in the November 2021 issue of Ultra Jump. Nisio Isin is the author and Posuka Demizu is the illustrator. A second chapter released in JOJO magazine 2023 WINTER on December 19, 2023. October 2023 also marks the 40th anniversary of the series.
